Maritime and Fishery Minister Fadel Muhammad yesterday launched the Eat Fish Campaign in Bali to increase fish consumption which is currently still low. The campaign was launched at the Ksirarnawa building, Denpasar Cultural Park and attended by 500 elementary school students. They sang the song “I love Eating Fish” and ate seafood.
Nationally, only 30 kilogram of fish is consumed per capita per year. This is below the ideal of 31,40 kilogram per capita per year. In Java, only 16 kilogram of fish per capita per year is consumed. According to Fadel, it takes hard work to intensify the consumption by increasing fish production per year, which is currently only 130 million tons per year.(www.korantempo.com)
